From 5 to 9 June, 2017, a delegation from SSU and Yazd University had a working visit to Hungary with the aim of developing academic collaborations. SSU representatives included the Head of International Relations Office (Prof. Owlia), Vice-president for Education (Dr. NouriShadkam), and President of SSU International Campus (Prof. Sheikhha).
The main programs were meeting and negotiating with the vice-mayor of Jászbrény, the Hungarian sister city of Yazd; the directors of medical universities of Semmelweis and Szeged; and the Hungary’s Minister of Education. Also the Iranian officials visited academic centers and Science &Technology Park in Budapest.
As a notable achievement of this trip, SSU signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Szeged on June 6, 2017. The memorandum calls for collaboration in student and faculty exchange as well as joint research projects.
The University of Szeged is one of Hungary’s leading and internationally ranked higher education institutions. According to the Academic Ranking of World Universities it is in the top 20% of universities and according to the QS World University Rankings it is the best Hungarian university in 2015/2016.
The delegation also visited the Embassy of I.R. Iran in Budapest where they met the Association of Iranian Physicians in Hungary as well as the Persian language school for volunteer non-Persian speakers which is directed by the Iranian Embassy at Kharazmi School.
