In 1983, the first medical school after the Islamic Revolution was established in Yazd. The school began with the admission of 33 medical students.

The School of Medicine currently consists of 11 basic sciences academic departments and 26 clinical departments. In addition to offering a general medicine program, the School provides higher education in 18 medical specialties, 4 fellowship fields, 10 master’s programs, and 4 PhD. Moreover, it delivers essential health and medical services through 19 comprehensive urban and rural health and medical service centers, 18 health centers, 8 specialty and subspecialty hospitals in the province. This infrastructure not only facilitates learning for medical students but also supports general medicine and specialized doctorate programs.

The faculty continues to evolve and adapt to provide excellent medical education aligned with current standards in the field.
