Diabetes Research and Treatment Center is a leader in diabetes research, education, prevention, and treatment. Established as the first university-affiliated research and treatment center in 1997, it has been providing comprehensive services to diabetic patients. The center received provisional approval in 2003 and final approval in 2009. It plays a significant role in improving public health through its diverse activities.

    The center conducts extensive basic, epidemiological, and clinical research to advance the understanding of diabetes and its risk factors. Key research activities include:
    • Conducting studies focused on diabetes prevention, treatment, and improving the quality of life for diabetic patients.

    Education is a core pillar of the center’s mission. Activities include:
    • Educating students and conducting joint research projects with university faculties.

    The center focuses on preventing diabetes type 1 and type 2 and its risk factors by:
    • Screening individuals at risk for diabetes type 1 and type 2.
    • Collaborating with organizations and academic institutions to promote diabetes prevention.
  1. Treatment:
    Serving over 400 diabetic patients daily, the center provides comprehensive care, including:
    • Regular check-ups with specialists in endocrinology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, cardiology, and more.
    • Nutritional counseling and insulin injection training.
    • Education on preventing diabetic wounds, wound dressing, and specialized diabetes-related tests.

    The center publishes the Iranian Journal of Diabetes and Obesity, a quarterly journal dedicated to disseminating research findings on diabetes and obesity.
