Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute

Research and Clinical Center for Infertility

Affiliation: Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute

Scope of activity: Research and Clinical Center for Infertility was established in Yazd in 1989 under the initiative of medical professionals at Yazd Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. It was officially recognized in 2000 by the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education as the "Academic Pivot for Infertility Education and Research." It was also honored as an Awarded Research Center at the 7th Razi Medical Sciences Research Festival in 2001. The center integrates multidisciplinary research and clinical expertise in reproductive sciences, covering male and female infertility, embryo development, genetics, stem cell biology, and nanobiotechnology. Annually, it provides infertility treatments for over 1,400 couples, employing advanced techniques such as IUI, IVF, ICSI, IMSI, embryo transfer, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, TESE, micro TESE, PESA, electroejaculation, genetic and nutrition counseling. The center is a leader in scientific infertility research and education.

Stem Cell Biology Research Center

Affiliation: Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute

Scope of activity: Established in 2006, the Stem Cell Biology Research Center specializes in stem cell production from dental pulp, bone marrow, umbilical cord, endometrium, testicular stromal mesenchymal cells, and human embryos. It was officially recognized by the Ministry of Health in 2017. The center conducts animal studies, researches neural cell differentiation, and explores tissue engineering methods. It remains actively involved in regenerative medicine and cell therapy research.

Abortion Research Center

Affiliation: Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute

Scope of activity: Abortion Research Center was founded in 2013 to investigate the genetic causes of recurrent miscarriages and infertility in men and women. It provides clinical services, including pre-marital, pre-natal, and post-natal genetic counseling, pre-implantation genetic testing (PGD and PGS), and prenatal diagnosis (PND). The center's laboratories conduct cytogenetic and molecular diagnostic tests. It also publishes research, organizes conferences, and has established the knowledge-based company Gen Azma Pajouhan Isatis (GAPA) for laboratory materials production and educational workshops.

Biotechnology Research Center

Affiliation: Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute

Scope of activity: Established in 2018, the center is focused on advancing research in nanomedicine, tissue engineering, and the development of medical technologies for treating serious diseases. It is involved in cutting-edge research in areas such as controlled drug release systems, biosensors, and tissue regeneration, with the aim to apply these innovations to medical treatments.

Yazd Cardiovascular Research Center

Scope of activity: Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of mortality in Yazd, accounting for 40% of all deaths. The average age of cardiovascular incidents is decreasing, necessitating preventive and therapeutic interventions. The Yazd Cardiovascular Research Center focuses on research in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. It aims to become a nationally and internationally recognized specialized research institution, fostering fundamental and applied research to advance cardiovascular health.

Yazd Diabetes Research Center

Affiliation: Yazd Non‑Communicable Diseases Research Institute

Scope of activity: Yazd Diabetes Research Center aims to address Yazd’s high prevalence of diabetes by promoting human dignity, adhering to regulations and Islamic values, fostering innovation, and supporting talented Iranian researchers worldwide. The center enhances research capacities, applies scientific findings, and integrates diabetes research outcomes into society. It also strives to improve diabetic patients' lifestyles, collaborate with national and international institutions, and provide comprehensive care through treatment, education, and prevention. The center seeks to be a leading institution in health research, enhancing public awareness and contributing to global health standards.

Hemotology & Oncology Research Center

Affiliation: Shahid Sadoughi Hospital | Yazd Non‑Communicable Diseases Research Institute

Scope of activity: The center focuses on reducing morbidity and mortality related to blood and cancer diseases. It aims to publish cutting-edge research through the journal on hematology and oncology and to become a national reference for blood and cancer research in southeastern Iran.

Social Determinants of Health Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health | Yazd Non‑Communicable Diseases Research Institute

Scope of activity: Iran has been a pioneer in addressing the impact of social determinants on health since 2006, aligning with WHO initiatives. Yazd Social Determinants of Health Research Center was established in 2010 and officially approved in 2011. It has graduated six students and currently hosts two PhD candidates. The center's journal, "Social Behavior and Community Health," was launched in 2017. Research focuses on lifestyle, substance abuse, physical activity, and nutrition. The center collaborates with other institutions to enhance health indicators and reduce social health inequalities.

Research Center for Nursing and Midwifery Care

Affiliation: Yazd Non‑Communicable Diseases Research Institute

Scope of activity: This center aims to enhance nursing and midwifery care through scientific research. Its goal is to translate research findings into practice, improving the quality and effectiveness of care. It strives to be recognized as one of the leading nursing and midwifery research centers.

Children Growth Disorder Research Center

Affiliation: Shahid Sadoughi Hospital

Scope of activity: Founded in 2012, Child Growth Disorders Research Center investigates pediatric growth, development, nutrition, allergies, respiratory diseases, diabetes, metabolic disorders, infections, poisoning, accidents, neurological diseases, and congenital heart conditions. The center prioritizes identifying risk factors, preventing childhood diseases, and promoting children's physical, psychological, and social well-being. It aspires to be a national and international research hub in child health sciences.

Environmental Science and Technology Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Established in 2010, the center conducts research on environmental health issues. It aims to improve public health through studies on pollution control, environmental sustainability, and the development of policies and strategies to address environmental health challenges. The center also collaborates with national and international organizations to promote environmental health research and policy-making.

Industrial Diseases Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Industrial Diseases Research Center received initial approval from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in 2014. Its mission is to ensure, maintain, and promote the health of all workers and prevent occupational accidents and diseases. Given the necessity of assessing and recognizing hazardous and arduous jobs in various occupations, the importance of measuring, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards, and planning for a healthy and safe work environment, this center merged with the Occupational Health Research Center in 2023 to enhance synergy and conduct joint scientific and research activities.

Infectious Diseases Research Center

Scope of activity: Established in 2003, the center conducts research on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. It includes studies on bacteriology, virology, and parasitology, and aims to improve public health strategies related to infectious disease management.

Mother and Newborn Health Research Center

Affiliation: Shahid Sadoughi Hospital

Scope of activity: The center conducts research on maternal and neonatal health issues, organizes educational workshops for medical professionals, holds research council meetings, and provides public education through pamphlets, workshops, and online platforms. It delivers specialized healthcare services to mothers and newborns. The center aims to be a leading institution at the provincial, national, and regional levels, contributing to maternal and neonatal health advancement.

Otorhinolaryngology Research Center

Affiliation: Shahid Sadoughi Hospital

Scope of activity: Established in 2012, the center aims to advance knowledge in rhinology and otolaryngology. It publishes research articles and holds short professional training courses and scientific seminars to support specialists in the field.

Reproductive Immunology Research Center

Affiliation: School of Paramedical Sciences

Scope of activity: Reproductive health has always been a vital topic for humanity. Infertility, affecting about 10-15% of reproductive-age individuals, and recurrent miscarriages are significant issues. The center aims to reduce infertility and prevent immune-related recurrent miscarriages through innovative research in reproductive immunology.
