Accident Prevention and Crisis Management Research Center

Scope of activity: The Accident Prevention and Crisis Management Research Center is one of the research centers at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, established at the Emergency Organization to expand research and provide solutions for health, treatment, and research issues. The center received provisional approval in 2011 and final approval in 2012 from the Council for Expansion of Medical Universities. Over the years, the center has made continuous efforts to elevate the level and status of research in its focus areas, including pre-hospital emergency services, the role of health in natural and man-made crises, civil defense, and accident prevention. Achievements include numerous scientific collaborations, executing significant research projects, training specialized research staff, and employing young researchers.
Addiction and Behavioral Sciences Research Center
Affiliation: Yazd Comprehensive Psychiatric Center | Yazd Non‑Communicable Diseases Research Institute
Scope of activity: Attention is given to the fact that addiction has become a fundamental issue for societies today, making up-to-date research based on societal needs increasingly necessary. For this purpose, the Center for Research on Addiction and Behavioral Sciences was established in 2003 under the supervision of Dr. Seyed Mojtaba Yassini to present and advance research goals.
Andrology Research Center
Affiliation: Yazd Reproductive Sciences Institute
Scope of activity: Andrology Research Center was the first and only center specializing in male infertility research, approved in 2020 at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd. The center has provided specialized male infertility diagnostic services, conducted quality research on assisted reproductive techniques (ART), and implemented strategic policies to address health system needs. The goals are providing diagnosis, sperm retrieval, microinjection, advanced sperm selection, freezing services for future use, addressing male infertility from primary to tertiary levels, establishing a center for managing and preventing male infertility complications, training medical professionals and specialists, creating reproductive education and awareness programs, publishing scientific research articles, organizing workshops, and cooperating with other research centers.
Elderly Health Research Center
Affiliation: School of Public Health
Scope of activity: Considering the increasing elderly population and their need for healthcare services, the Elderly Health Research Center at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, started its activities in 2012 with the goal of lifestyle modification, quality of life improvement, and ultimately the promotion of elderly health in various dimensions (physical, psychological, social, and spiritual) through extensive research, providing educational and research opportunities for those interested in this field, gaining community and authorities' support, especially healthcare professionals. The center is recognized as a reputable center in the country, conducting research on biological, physical-psychological, and social issues of the elderly, and producing, disseminating, and applying new knowledge to improve the health and quality of life of older adults.
Health Data Modeling Research Center
Affiliation: School of Public Health
Scope of activity: The Health Data Modeling Research Center officially began its activities in 2012. Our aim is to take strong steps toward improving public health, disease prevention, modeling in non-communicable diseases, reducing the burden of diseases, and enhancing public health and prevention in the Iranian community through technology-driven, innovative, and team-based research. The center's researchers are committed to disease prevention through the following missions: 1. Conducting applied and fundamental research, 2. Increasing public health knowledge, 3. Applying research results to improve the quality of services, 4. Conducting joint applied research with other research centers, 5. Empowering educational groups.
Health Monitoring Research Center
Affiliation: School of Medicine
Scope of activity: Health Monitoring Research Center was established in 2011 with the goal of investigating and assessing the burden of diseases and the risk factors and underlying causes of acute and chronic diseases in the province and region. Other objectives include evaluating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of programs and examining the prevalence of diseases and years of life lost due to illness and disability. The center's goals are to: 1. Develop and apply knowledge in public health and health monitoring, 2. Conduct fundamental, epidemiological, and clinical research to reform the healthcare delivery system to meet the needs of the Islamic community, 3. Provide reliable and up-to-date evidence for ranking diseases and health threats for intervention, 4. Conduct research to measure the impact of health programs and interventions and compare different intervention impacts, 5. Address the research needs of the Ministry of Health, 6. Assist in scientific evaluation of proposals and conduct necessary research for the Ministry of Health.
Health Technology Assessment and Medical Informatics

Scope of activity: The Research Center for Health Technology Assessment and Medical Informatics aims to produce knowledge and create quality mechanization infrastructures at provincial, national, and international levels. The center plays an active and prominent role in health surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation of national health programs. The goals include: evaluating medical-health technologies and interventions for enhancing quality in health services, producing knowledge in biomedical informatics, developing clinical databases, designing software programs for data mining and analysis, presenting strategic solutions for achieving health information systems, and providing policy recommendations for implementing health information systems.
Genetics and Environmental Hazards Research Center
Affiliation: Abarkooh School of Paramedical Sciences
Scope of activity: Genetics and Environmental Hazards Research Center at the School of Paramedical Sciences in Abarkooh was established in 2017 with the aim of developing and promoting knowledge and technology in genetics and environmental hazards. It was established with the support of Dr. Dadbin Pour, Director of Research Affairs at the university, and has faculty members, specialists, and suitable physical space, facilities, and equipment. The center aims to use the actual and potential capabilities of the province efficiently to advance the scientific-research-educational levels for improving community health. It addresses scientific concepts, theoretical foundations, and functional and cognitive aspects related to hazards to reduce their impact, while also monitoring, managing, and studying natural hazards and genetic issues.
Health Policy and Management Research Center
Affiliation: School of Public Health
Scope of activity: Health Policy and Management Research Center was established in 2011 as a research center approved by the University Research Council. To expand research based on the principles of the national health research system and in line with achieving social justice, the Health Policy and Management Research Center was formed to develop and apply knowledge in health systems, effective management and leadership to improve quality of life, promote health, and achieve sustainable development in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The center focuses on fundamental and applied research (emphasizing community-oriented, interventionist, and strategic insight-based research) in line with international standards and ethical principles. Its research priorities include the effects of employment and working conditions on health equity, health equity in coverage, access, quality, and utilization of health promotion, prevention, and treatment services, analysis of laws and regulations from a health equity perspective, the role of policies and local and national actions on health equity, and health equity indicators.
Iranian Traditional Medicine Research Center
Affiliation: Malek Sabat Health Complex
Scope of activity: Iranian Traditional Medicine Research Center dedicates itself to expanding traditional medicine research through discovery, dissemination, and awareness. Its main tasks are providing prevention (health-nutritional) and treatment methods based on the principles of traditional and natural medicine, which are characterized by being effective, safe, having fewer side effects, being evidence-based, and cost-effective. The center is committed to achieving its goals through the following missions: Conducting research using traditional and natural medicine resources that contribute to human health (these studies follow ethical guidelines considering volunteers' health and comfort), creating a suitable environment for research, discovery, and scientific exchange, leading efforts to revive, enhance, and integrate traditional medicine into the healthcare system, elevating the role of the center in developing national policies and strategies in traditional medicine, developing human resources, expanding research and technology quality, institutionalizing the use of research findings in clinical services, gaining support from institutions for research, and developing information and technology management systems.
Pharmaceutical Sciences and Traditional Medicine

Scope of activity: The Research Center for Pharmaceutical Sciences and Traditional Medicine is a leading center in pharmaceutical research and traditional medicine, located in the School of Pharmacy at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd. This center resulted from the merger of the Research Center for Medicinal Plants and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Center in 2022. Its research priorities include synthesizing pharmaceutical compounds, designing and modeling new drugs, evaluating pharmacological (toxicological) effects, designing and formulating final pharmaceutical products, and exploring the mechanisms of action of medicinal plants from a traditional medicine perspective.
Spiritual Health Research Center
Affiliation: Supreme Leader Representation at University
Scope of activity: Established in 2021 under the guidance of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Spiritual Health Research Center's goals are to elevate the importance of health in Islamic spirituality and to carry out research in the field of spiritual health, training interested individuals for practical applications in promoting spiritual care, and integrating spiritual care into the health system to achieve a health-promoting society.
Yazd Neuroendocrine Research Center

Introduction: Yazd Neuroendocrine Research Center was established in 2011 with the aim of enhancing the scientific level of researchers in the field of neuroscience and the hormonal system. The center aims to improve the quality of scientific studies in this medical science field using the available tools and capacity. This mission is pursued alongside maintaining and publishing scientific and ethical standards in medical sciences, particularly in neuroendocrinology, and it is hoped that it will be a cornerstone for making significant contributions to medical sciences, especially in the neuroendocrine system.
