Social Determinants of Health Research Center, Non-Communicable Diseases Research Institute, Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, Iran
Iran has been a pioneer in addressing the impact of social determinants on health. In 2006, the Secretariat for Social Determinants of Health was established within the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, in parallel with the World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Determinants of Health. Subsequently, the Health Determinants Research Network was approved in 2011.
Social Determinants of Health Research Center at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, received in-principle approval from the Council for the Expansion of Medical Universities in 2011.
This research center strives to collaborate with academic and non-academic partners to improve health indicators and reduce health disparities through community participation and evidence-based research.

- Conducting basic and epidemiological research focused on social determinants of health and equity
