Social Determinants of Health Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Iran has been a pioneer in addressing the impact of social determinants on health since 2006, aligning with WHO initiatives. Yazd Social Determinants of Health Research Center was established in 2010 and officially approved in 2011. It has graduated six students and currently hosts two PhD candidates. The center's journal, "Social Behavior and Community Health," was launched in 2017. Research focuses on lifestyle, substance abuse, physical activity, and nutrition. The center collaborates with other institutions to enhance health indicators and reduce social health inequalities.

Environmental Science and Technology Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Established in 2010, the center conducts research on environmental health issues. It aims to improve public health through studies on pollution control, environmental sustainability, and the development of policies and strategies to address environmental health challenges. The center also collaborates with national and international organizations to promote environmental health research and policy-making.

Industrial Diseases Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Industrial Diseases Research Center received initial approval from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in 2014. Its mission is to ensure, maintain, and promote the health of all workers and prevent occupational accidents and diseases. Given the necessity of assessing and recognizing hazardous and arduous jobs in various occupations, the importance of measuring, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards, and planning for a healthy and safe work environment, this center merged with the Occupational Health Research Center in 2023 to enhance synergy and conduct joint scientific and research activities.

Elderly Health Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Considering the increasing elderly population and their need for healthcare services, the Elderly Health Research Center at Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, started its activities in 2012 with the goal of lifestyle modification, quality of life improvement, and ultimately the promotion of elderly health in various dimensions (physical, psychological, social, and spiritual) through extensive research, providing educational and research opportunities for those interested in this field, gaining community and authorities' support, especially healthcare professionals. The center is recognized as a reputable center in the country, conducting research on biological, physical-psychological, and social issues of the elderly, and producing, disseminating, and applying new knowledge to improve the health and quality of life of older adults.

Health Data Modeling Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: The Health Data Modeling Research Center officially began its activities in 2012. Our aim is to take strong steps toward improving public health, disease prevention, modeling in non-communicable diseases, reducing the burden of diseases, and enhancing public health and prevention in the Iranian community through technology-driven, innovative, and team-based research. The center's researchers are committed to disease prevention through the following missions: 1. Conducting applied and fundamental research, 2. Increasing public health knowledge, 3. Applying research results to improve the quality of services, 4. Conducting joint applied research with other research centers, 5. Empowering educational groups.

Health Technology Assessment and Medical Informatics

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: The Research Center for Health Technology Assessment and Medical Informatics aims to produce knowledge and create quality mechanization infrastructures at provincial, national, and international levels. The center plays an active and prominent role in health surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation of national health programs. The goals include: evaluating medical-health technologies and interventions for enhancing quality in health services, producing knowledge in biomedical informatics, developing clinical databases, designing software programs for data mining and analysis, presenting strategic solutions for achieving health information systems, and providing policy recommendations for implementing health information systems.

Health Policy and Management Research Center

Affiliation: School of Public Health

Scope of activity: Health Policy and Management Research Center was established in 2011 as a research center approved by the University Research Council. To expand research based on the principles of the national health research system and in line with achieving social justice, the Health Policy and Management Research Center was formed to develop and apply knowledge in health systems, effective management and leadership to improve quality of life, promote health, and achieve sustainable development in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The center focuses on fundamental and applied research (emphasizing community-oriented, interventionist, and strategic insight-based research) in line with international standards and ethical principles. Its research priorities include the effects of employment and working conditions on health equity, health equity in coverage, access, quality, and utilization of health promotion, prevention, and treatment services, analysis of laws and regulations from a health equity perspective, the role of policies and local and national actions on health equity, and health equity indicators.
