Deaths from Trauma globally dwarf all other causes of death in the working population. There are approximately six million deaths per year as a result of trauma, which is more than all the contagious diseases added together including HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria and COVID-19. [Reference]
Trauma is also considered to be the most important cause of disability and health-related economic loss in developing countries. The correctable nature of this problem and the staggering costs it imposes on the economic system of each country on the one hand, and its recognition as the leading cause of disability, on the other hand, lead adoption of basic measures by policy makers and health workers in different countries of the world.
Based on these measures, trauma systems have been created focusing on preventive measures and care for the patients. Planning to create a trauma system and its continuous evaluation is not possible without information. In this regard, the establishment of trauma research centers can greatly help by organizing research activities and collecting useful and new scientific information.
Founded in May 2013, Trauma Research Center is located in Shahid Rahnemoon Hospital, the trauma referral center of the province.
