The new ambassador of Hungary in Iran, Zoltan Varga-Haszonits, had a meeting with the President of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd. The scientific and medical cooperation between the medical universities of Yazd and Hungary were emphasized.

Prof. Mohammad Bagher Owlia, the Director of International Relations Office of the university stated that until now inter-university cooperation has been carried out with the universities of Italy, Hungary, Georgia, Ukraine, Spain, China and Iraq. “The academic visit of Shahid Sadoughi University delegation to Hungary in 2017, three academic trips of the Hungarian team to Yazd, student exchange between SSU and two main universities in Hungary, and attending short courses in orthopedics and general surgery for two colleagues in Hungarian partner universities are the scientific interactions conducted under the MoU between Yazd and Hungary.”, he added.

Prof. Owlia described this meeting as a great opportunity to provide more facilities for the faculty members, students and specialists to study and exchange ideas in a European educational environment.

SSU President, Dr. Hashemi Bajgani, appreciated the presence of the Hungarian ambassador in this university and expressed his hope that this meeting will be a good opportunity for further cooperation between the two countries.

The ambassador of Hungary in Iran, Zoltan Varga-Haszonits, mentioned the contracts and memorandums of understanding signed between the universities of Yazd and Hungary in past, that were stopped due to the Covid 19 pandemic. “We are hoping to reestablish and update the cooperation.”, he said.

He pointed to the study of a large number of Iranian students in Hungary and stressed the continuation of annual scholarships and more memorandums of understanding with the Hungarian universities to extend the academic exchange.

Referring to the fact that this was his first visit to Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, Zoltan Varga-Haszonits appreciated the international relations in this university, and expressed his hope to enlist more Hungarian medical universities, which are among the leading European universities, to cooperate with SSU.
