The delegations from the municipalities of Jászberény in Hungary and Gyumri in Armenia met the officials of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd on July 11, 2023. Lóránt Budai, the Mayor of Jászberény, affirmed that good measures have been taken in the medical field of Yazd, and Jászberény is ready to cooperate with Yazd in the medical field and expand interaction and communication with SSU. Referring to the medical capabilities of Yazd, he added: “I am a radiologist and we can expand communication in the field of medicine and treatment. Considering the scientific development in Yazd province, it is pleasant that the percentage of Yazdi doctors is higher than the national average.” The Mayor of the Hungarian city of Jászberény stated that the friendship and sisterhood of Yazd and Jászberény has a long history. Emphasizing that the more the connection between these two cities increases, it will have a good effect on their people and that they received helpful information in these two days as well as a good understanding of the world heritage city of Yazd. In this meeting, the assistant and advisor of the mayor of Gyumri, Armenia, pointed out that Armenia had a very good relationship and interaction with Iran, and that Gyumri has been the sister city of Yazd since 2021. Ram Shaboyan pointed to the very close relations that have come about through the sisterhood of these two cities and emphasized the increasing of bilateral relations and interactions. Shaboyan said: “Considering the very good information we got from Yazd, we are interested in increasing our relations with Yazd, and these relations can definitely have a great impact on us.” Referring to the medical and therapeutic capacities of Yazd, he stated: “There is a possibility of communication and interaction in the fields of medicine, especially in the field of medical education.” In this meeting, Prof. M. Bagher Owlia, the Director of International Relations gave a brief introduction to SSU. Also, Dr. Amin Salehi, Vice-President of Research and Technology, and Prof. Mehrparvar, Vice-President of Education presented the activities and potentials of the SSU in the field of research, technology, and education and introduced the cooperation opportunities between the universities of Hungary and Armenia. Dr. Zarezadeh expressed the opportunities for cooperation in the field of health tourism.
