About us

Established in 1997, Diabetes Research Center, is the first research and treatment center affiliated with Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. It has been providing comprehensive services in diabetes treatment, education, prevention, and research.

Treatment

Every day, over 400 diabetic patients visit the center to receive services such as medical record creation and periodic examinations by specialists and sub-specialists (Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Dermatology, etc.).

Additional services include nutritional counseling, retinal imaging, education on ulcer prevention and insulin injection techniques, diabetic wound dressing, and diabetes-related laboratory testing.

It is worth noting that a number of these patients are referred to the center by general practitioners from health centers across the province.

Prevention
  • Conducting screening for at-risk individuals and the general population using various methods
  • Collaborating with other organizations and academic institutions on the prevention of diabetes and its associated risk factors
Education
  • Collaborating with various faculties on student education and conducting research projects
  • Organizing training workshops, particularly for physicians
  • Producing books, booklets, pamphlets, brochures, etc.
  • Organizing educational classes for patients
  • Providing face-to-face patient education and counseling
  • Preparing educational materials for staff, students, and patients
  • Hosting seminars, conferences, symposiums, etc.
Research
  • Developing and applying scientific expertise regarding the understanding of diabetes and its associated risk factors
  • Conducting fundamental, epidemiological, and clinical research aimed at improving public health through diabetes prevention within the province
  • Implementing research findings in the community and encouraging provincial researchers to engage in diabetes-related studies
  • Collaborating with other research centers and relevant departments.
  • Improving the lifestyle of diabetic patients and enhancing their health status.
  • Engaging in scientific collaboration with research and medical centers in other countries and with international organizations, in compliance with the laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  • Conducting community-oriented activities focused on education, research, prevention, and treatment
  • Conducting research related to diabetes—specifically regarding prevention, treatment, and improving the quality of life for diabetic patients
