A researcher from Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences has earned international recognition after receiving the Silver Medal at the 6th IFIA 2026 International Invention and Innovation Competition, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Announcing the achievement, Dr. Mehran Karimi, Vice-President for Research and Technology at the university, congratulated Mahya Azimi, Secretary of the University Inventors Working Group and a registered nurse at Shohadaye Mehrab Hospital in Yazd, for her outstanding success in one of the world’s leading innovation events.
The competition brought together innovators from across the globe, featuring more than 1,500 inventions spanning a wide range of scientific and technological fields. Participants showcased cutting-edge solutions designed to address current and future challenges in healthcare, engineering, and other disciplines.
Azimi received the Silver Medal for her invention entitled “Next-Generation Smart Wound Management System with Integrated Biosensing, Cryotherapy, and Therapeutic Microfluidics.” The innovative system combines advanced biosensors, targeted cryotherapy, and therapeutic microfluidic technology to support intelligent wound monitoring and treatment, representing a promising step forward in the development of smart medical technologies.
This international recognition reflects the growing research and innovation capacity of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences and the significant contribution of Iranian researchers to the global scientific and innovation community.
